The Story

Early morning on Llanddwyn Beach, looking across the Menai Strait towards the mountains of Snowdonia. The sea was restless, the beach still quiet and the mountains were just beginning to emerge in the morning light.

I shot Emerald Sea on 35mm film. It reminds me of why I love being outdoors early. That feeling of being somewhere wild while most of the world is still waking up, with no real plan other than to see what you might find.

I chose this dark wooden frame with its fine gold detailing because I love how it picks up the deeper tones in the grasses and water, while letting the softer colours of the photograph sit quietly within it.
